FACELAB · ABOUT THE PROJECT

About FaceLab

FaceLab is an interactive makeup and skincare studio where you can safely practise techniques in your browser. No sign-up, no downloads, and no risk of ruining your own face at the stage where your hand has not learned the movement yet.

Why this exists

Makeup is usually learned in one of two ways: watching videos, or trying things on yourself. The trouble with the first is that someone else’s face and someone else’s hands never explain why a step works. The trouble with the second is the cost of a mistake — a badly matched foundation costs money, and a crooked wing costs twenty minutes and your mood before you leave the house.

A practice mode removes both problems. The order of steps matches real life, and you can repeat a mistake ten times in a row and see exactly what causes it. Once the sequence is in your hands, transferring it to your own face is far easier.

What the site offers

The free studio is a mode with no rules and no scoring. Pick up tools, mix colours, watch how one layer sits over another, and stop whenever you like.

The skincare game walks through a basic routine in the right order: cleanse, care, protect. Order is what breaks down most often in real life.

Date Prep is the full scenario, from clean skin to the final touch, with separate stages for concealer, contour, blush, eyeliner and lipstick. Each stage has its own mechanic rather than a single “apply” button.

The guides section is the written half of the project: breakdowns of technique that explain why the steps are what they are. Everything is available in Ukrainian and English. If you are not sure where to begin, there is a route for beginners.

How we prepare our material

Every guide is written around a specific game mechanic and explains what the reader has just done with their hands. We rely on publicly available guidance from dermatology associations and on established practice with cosmetics — not on advice from comment sections.

Articles run from 900 words, and each one has a section on common mistakes, because mistakes are what people actually search for. Material is reviewed by the site owner before publication, and the date of the last update appears on every page. If we change the substance of an article, the date changes with it.

Wherever a topic touches the condition of the skin, the article carries an explicit note: this is educational material, not medical advice.

What we do not do

We do not sell cosmetics and we do not recommend particular brands. The guides are about textures, finishes and technique — the parts that stay true regardless of the label or the price.

We do not diagnose and we do not suggest treatment. Persistent breakouts, reactions to cosmetics and any change that does not resolve are reasons to see a dermatologist.

We do not collect your photographs. Images you open in the free studio are processed locally in your browser and are never uploaded anywhere.

Privacy, advertising and money

The site is free and has no paid features. Hosting costs are intended to be covered by advertising. If ad units appear, they will be kept separate from the text and will not influence the content of the guides: we do not write articles to order and we do not adjust recommendations for an advertiser.

What is stored in your browser and why is set out in our privacy policy and cookie policy.

Important note

FaceLab content is educational and entertaining. It is not medical, dermatological or cosmetology advice. Consult a qualified professional if you have a skin concern.
