ABOUT THIS GAME

Date Prep: the full route

This is the longest mode in FaceLab: from an unwashed face to a finished look with hair and jewellery. The game shows not individual techniques but how the steps connect — why hair comes after makeup, and why clothes come last of all.

The route

  1. Cleansing. Remove what was on the face and prepare the surface. Foundation over unwashed skin will settle into the pores by evening.
  2. Skincare. Moisture and a pause to absorb. Three to five minutes is a technical requirement, not a suggestion.
  3. Base and foundation. Primer where it is needed, foundation from the centre outwards, concealer after the base rather than before it.
  4. Sculpting. Contour, blush, highlighter. Returns the volume that foundation flattened.
  5. Brows and eyes. Brows first — they set the frame. Then shadow, liner, mascara, in that order.
  6. Lips. Liner before lipstick: it defines the shape and stops colour bleeding.
  7. Hair and outfit. Hair after makeup; clothes and jewellery right at the end.

What to take into real life

  • Hair after makeup, so the dryer and hairspray do not ruin a finished base.
  • Clothes last, and ideally not something that goes over your head. If there is no alternative, drape a silk scarf over your face.
  • Realistic getting-ready time is 70 minutes to an hour and a half. Planning for thirty is planning to be stressed.

The most common mistakes

  • Shortening the pause after skincare. It decides whether the makeup survives the evening.
  • Doing your hair before your makeup — one of the two ends up being redone.
  • Skipping blush to save time. Without contour the face is flatter; without blush it is lifeless.

Worth keeping in mind

The route in the game is a base framework, not the only correct script. The order of steps holds, but what fills each one depends on your face, the occasion and the products you own.

Time in the game is notional. In real life eyes and hair take longest, and those are where the buffer belongs.

Frequently asked

How long does the game take?
About ten to fifteen minutes for a full run.
Can I play only part of it?
Yes. The stages run in sequence, but you can stop at any of them.
Do I need an account?
No, the game opens straight away.
Is there sound?
Yes, some steps carry audio cues.
Is this a realistic getting-ready order?
Yes. The route follows the logic used in practice: whatever can dirty the finished result happens earlier.
